MLB Draft: Who Should the Mets Select?

Image
With the 2018 MLB First Year Player Draft set to take place from June 4th through the 6th, it is time for all 30 MLB teams to further stockpile for the future. With a greater emphasis placed on MLB teams having a streamline of young talent in their organization, the draft has become a great place for teams to further this process. With this in mind, one will wonder how the Mets should go about their draft selection in this upcoming draft.

How Tyler Glasnow Can Break Out

Image
Courtesy of Pittsburgh Post Gazette     The Pirates are currently 26-20, and have been a pleasant surprise so far. They may only be sitting 4th in the NL Central, but the difference between them and the first place Brewers is only 2 games . They have had some great contributions from their roster, and I believe there is one player in particular that can break out by the end of the year and be yet another contributor, and that guy is Tyler Glasnow .

How The Mets Are Perfect For the Rotation Revolution

Image
Image Courtesy of Amazin' Avenue    Most baseball fans know by now about the crazy reliever experiment the Rays conducted this past weekend. The idea of a team using a reliever to start the game has been long talked about by the sabermetric community. Seeing this idea become reality is a clearly a big win for them. This idea worked out nicely for the Rays, and they are being hailed as the forefront of a revolution. While this is true to an extent, I firmly believe there is one team that can do it even better. That team? The New York Mets.

Is Jon Gray Becoming an Ace?

Image
Courtesy of the Denver Post    For the first time in Rockies history, they may finally have an ace. His name is Jon Gray . This guy shut down the great hitting Angels the other night, and as much as this is only a three start sample of dominance, it certainly cannot be ignored due to the high level of talent that Gray possesses. In fact, it appears he has made some adjustments, and if he can keep those up, he can be the ace that he was once projected to be.

What Is Going On With Amed Rosario?

Courtesy of SNY.tv   It is safe to say that  Amed Rosario has had a rough go so far in the majors. However, the tools are there, and he has a chance to turn things around.

Francisco Cervelli = Elite?

Image
Image from CBS Pittsburgh    April is a crazy month. Stars perform badly, and bad players perform like stars. However, there are a few players that have a good first month of the season and parlay that into a full five more months of excellence. You'll see the wRC+ leaderboard and see some interesting names. Sitting within the top 20? Francisco Cervelli . Wow.

Seth Lugo: Potential Strikeout Ace?

Image
Courtesy of NY Daily News      So Seth Lugo has been a bit of an enigma so far this year. On the surface, he doesn't seem to be having that bad of a year in his first bout of relieving. I mean, a 3.77 ERA doesn't look all that bad when paired with an improved strikeout rate. However, there is more than what meets the eye here, and honestly, Lugo's peripherals have been terrible. I believe though that there is hidden potential in him that can make him a truly elite strikeout pitcher, and put him over the top.
